Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, located in 400 million year old karst mountain country, is home to some of the world's largest and most impressive caves. The area received World Heritage Listing in 2003.

Three caves, Phong Nha, Tien Son and Thien Duong (Paradise Cave) are easily accessed and are by far the most popular of around 300 so far discovered in the park. Some have proclaimed Paradise Cave, discovered in 2005, to be the most beautiful in the world.

Just 45km south of Hue, Bach Ma National Park is home to old French hill station. Established in mid 1998, the park covers a rolling mountainous area of 22,030 ha and reaches a peak of 1450m at Bach Ma mountain. The forest, in addition to its indigenous flora, also has various species of plant originating in both the north and the south. Visitors can find exciting trekking routes and romantic hotels in this area.

About 42km northwest of Buon Ma Thuot, Yok Don National Park - the largest of Vietnam’s nature reserves - was established in 1991. With an area of 115,545 hectares, the park is the home of nearly 70 animal species including some endangered in Indochina as well as some worldwide endangered species. The park runs all the way up to the border with Cambodia, with the beautiful Srepok River flowing through it. Nowadays, Yokdon has become the biggest reservation of wild elephants in Vietnam. There are 17 ethnic groups have been living here. The locals are mostly M'nong.
